After losing a screen to Neptune last year in New Bedford I decided to take some precautions...and it worked....A little brute force, Yankee ingenuity, tape and dental floss and I save this one from the drink...We now have a real screen in our berth....ahhh..... a nice fresh breeze and no critters....Life is good!
Air circulation is a big in the heat of SWFL... what a difference it makes.. It was quite a project but, well worth it... It is so much more comfortable in the cockpit now.
Look Ma... no propane....At long last, after researching, experimenting, ordering, receiving, testing, removing, unscrewing, hiring an electrician, insulating, reconfiguring, measuring, leveling, cutting, drilling, constructing, filing, changing and final touches...it works...it cooks...and I even baked Christmas cookies...The cook is very Happy!!
The Holidays are over so it is time to get to work (which is a 4 letter word here on P-dock).
After avoiding this project for over a year, I finally decided to drag out my old Singer and the roll of 30 gauge Strataglass I have had sitting around for the past several months and get this job done.
One of our 'smiley face' windows cracked while I was rolling it up as we pushed off in the chilly predawn hours somewhere on the AICW last fall...I taped it up and it worked to keep the rain out.. but, it was time to do an actual repair.. I have never done this repair, so there was quite a learning curve involved.... After a lot of seam ripping, and figuring, I got it done.. It is not perfect, however, the experience was well worth the time and frustration... Next time I have to repair one .. I will know what to do and will save us lots of money in the process.
We got an electric grill so we can grill at the dock.. no open flame
I finally pulled out the Sunbrella and the old Singer to make a cover and installed the grill......
While I was at it, I cut out the pieces for the bow seat cushions...Another work in progress.
This is the last of the new sturdy storage Bins.....Also filled up our water bottles at the Water Mill while I was in Fort Myers
I used these bins when I downsized our Storage unit in 2019... they are truly the BEST!!
And everything in it's place....Now everything is in a bin..stacked and labeled.
This should make shuffling everything in the generator room so much easier....YAY!!
After trying to avoid drilling holes in our pristine bulkheads and many attempts of many different types of Velcro and 3M products...and them failing and falling off.....I finally took out the drill....and in no time at all, installed 4 Fire Extinguishers...Check that one off the list!!
Completing even small projects gives you a great sense of accomplishment.
