This is the worst it has been.... We have been cleaning our Air Conditioner Strainer about every 2 weeks this summer...
one of our least favorite jobs, but, it has to be done if we want to stay cool.
A never ending chore
3 weeks away during the rainy season and Miss Grace turned green
Main thing on a boat is to keep the water on the outside...
We have been very lucky on Miss Grace...
But, never want to take a chance... port bilge pump had an electrical issue..
easy enough to replace.
Things you don't think about....
There was a loud constant noise coming from our electrical panel...
1st thought was our inverter going bad...
Upon inspection it was a dirty exhaust fan..
Listening to the LOUD whirring all night was quite disconcerting.. So, what do you do when you can't sleep at 3 am? Go online of course.. googling how to clean muffin or exhaust fans...Lots of suggestions..from vacuuming and compressed air to alcohol wipes.. Well, I had the wipes...so, first thing in the morning I opened the panel.. tried to stop the fan...and began the task of removing years of grime...
Many alcohol wipes later.. the fan is clean and a bit quieter...
The thing that had me worried was that it could have been a fire hazard..
So, word to the wise... whether you live on a boat or in a house..check your exhaust fans
Electrical panel exhaust, Bathroom fans range fans, dryer vents..etc..
and stay safe!!
Our fridge freezer works great for us..
Living in a warm, humid environment we have to defrost about every 2 months...not bad...
reminds me of when I was child with our old Frigidaire
Turn off the thermostat, fill bowls with boiling water, close the door ......
in no time, the ice falls off..
Great time to clean and reorganize the Fridge !!
We may live on a boat in paradise, but, that doesn't mean there aren't always chores to do..
Vacuuming and scrubbing to keep Miss Grace ship shape
Occasionally have to scrub off the mildew..
I found a great cleaner ( Amazon's Mildew Stain away )that also helps prevent mold & mildew for several months...
Luckily we don't have a lot of rust on our chrome...but this little bit on the wheel shaft has been driving me crazy..
tried a baking soda paste.. got most of it off
After all that cleaning sometimes you just have to do something creative...
we had a piece of blue masking tape marking the center for years..
time to kick it up a notch with my version of a Turks Head knot..
not perfect but, it still looks good
As the only exterior wood on the boat...it was long overdue ... The poor thing was in desperate need of some sanding and varnishing... 4 coats of Captains Varnish and light sanding between coats... and its beautiful again!
I guess this should be listed as a project, but, it landed here..so here it stays...The legs on our cockpit table were not the prettiest...they had adhesive stuck to them and scratches... I had been trying to decide the best way to make them look better... and after 3 and a half years it finally dawned on me, the easiest thing was to wrap them in Paracord...and voila....Pretty Legs !!
